Head Baseball Coach
Tanque Verde High School is seeking a Head Baseball Coach for the 21/22 SY.
Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
-Will organize and supervise a total sports program.
-Has previous succesful coaching experience in baseball.
-Demonstrates professionalism at all times and can effectively communicate with parents in a positive and timely manner.
-Previous baseball coaching experience preferred.
-Promote sportsmanship and foster good character in student athletes.
-The head coach must have substantial technical knowledge of baseball as well as the willingness to explore growth opportunity within coaching.
-The head coach must serve as an appropriate role model for student athletes through his/her instructions and actions.
Reports to:
The Assistant Principal/Athletic Director, who provides overall objectives and final evaluation.
Supervises:
In several instances, the head coach must advise, coordinate and support a staff of assistant coaches in conjunction with the AP/AD.
Job goals include, but are not limited to:
-To instruct athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training necessary to realize a degree of individual team success. -The coach must instruct and demonstrate behaviors that lead to socially acceptable character development, self-discipline, and pride of accomplishment in student athletes. To upgrade his/her knowledge and skills through coaching clinics, observations, consultation, etc.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Has thorough knowledge of all the athletic policies approved by the Tanque Verde High School Athletic Department and is responsible for their implementation by the entire staff of the sports program.
-Has knowledge of Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) constitution, bylaws, policies and procedures, and implements them consistently as well as interprets them for staff.
Staff responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
-Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills and techniques to be taught by staff. Designs conferences, clinics and staff meetings to ensure staff awareness of the overall program.
-Trains and informs staff, encourages professional growth by encouraging clinic attendance according to local clinic policy .
-Delegates specific duties, supervises implementation and at season's end, analysis staff effectiveness and evaluates all assistants.
-Maintains discipline, adjusts grievances and works to increase morale and cooperation.
-Performs such other duties which may be asigned by the athletic director/principal.
-Permits the athletes to only be in authorized areas of the building at the appropriate times.
-Examines locker rooms before and after practices and games, checking on general cleanliness of the facility.
-Responsible for cleanliness and maintenance of specific sport equipment.
-Instills in each player a respect for equipment and school property, its care and proper use.

-Provide for the safety and welfare of all participants. Supervise students in practice areas, locker rooms, on the bus during trips and at all times during the season. Exercise patience, tolerance and diplomacy in relations with all players, parents, co-workers, contest officials and spectators.
Interscholastic activities are an extension of the classroom and as such, your actions, behavior and interactions with our student athletes should be reflective of this.
All head coaches shall have a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate, Arizona Coaching Certificate, or have completed each of the following criteria from the National Federation of State High School Associations online at www.nfhslearn.org.

• Fundamentals of coaching
• Sport specific course
• First Aid/CPR
•Fingerprint Clearance Card
